Kia K4 S – A few weeks ago, we drove the all new Kia K4 Sport plus model. Last week we drove the entry level ‘S’ model. The new design seems to polarise people. They either like it or not. I actually don’t mind the design, it has appeal.
Being the base model, it comes with fabric seats, manual seat adjustment, and 16 inch alloy wheels.
The ’S’ model does come with almost the full suite of safety features though, and two isofix and three top tether points for baby seats.
It also comes with the panoramic screen that extends from in front of the driver through to the central screen. This provided clear images especially for the reverse camera.
Smart phone connectivity and charging is wired unfortunately.
Rear seats have reasonable room and the boot is spacious. However, the boot opening will limit what can be placed in there.
For a baby pram and other gear, the upcoming hatchback model may be better. One practical design feature is that the rear seats will fold flat if you need to store something longer.
The K4 S comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine, front wheel drive and a six speed automatic transmission.
It provides adequate performance and economy. If you want something more sporty the GT version is your choice.
The Kia K4 S is priced from $30,590 plus the usual costs.
