I really like the elegant design that stands out from the crowd.

It comes with a 1.6L petrol engine, front wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

This combination provides excellent economy, zippy urban acceleration, and effortless motorway cruising. The suspension is super smooth, like you are riding on air at times.

One thing you notice is just how quiet it is when driving.

The C5-X is bigger than it looks and there is plenty of room inside. The interior is also different but carries the elegance theme throughout.

Its luxurious and well laid out, but some features take a little getting used to.

The French are well known for doing things a little differently and the Citroën C5-X certainly is an example of that thinking.

When you compare it to some of the other premium European brands like BMW or Mercedes Benz, the Citroën personality shines bright against their blandness and dullness.

Priced from a little over $57,500 dollars the Citroën C5-X is also stunning value.

It has a boxy tall feel about it, both in looks and inside. The design grows quickly on you, and I found I liked its distinctive style.

Inside you sit upright in what could be the most comfortable seats in the segment. The front ones are heated, and the driver has a massage function that I found relaxing.

The drivers’ instruments are housed in a 12.3-inch digital display that can be changed to suit the driver.

I enjoyed the feel of the steering wheel and its responsive nature.

In the latest model the central touch screen is a handy 10 inches and is more user friendly than before. This shows in things like direct access to air conditioning controls, and sat nav.

The C5 Aircross has wireless phone charging but wired connectivity unfortunately.

Around town it has enough performance to keep most drivers happy with its 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine and 8 speed automatic transmission. Its front wheel drive only.

On longer trips the long legs of the engine means that it cruises effortlessly and has great economy.

You can buy Citroën CS Aircross from around $55,000 plus the usual costs and owners can buy a prepaid service pan which is handy.

What you could also expect, given it’s a Citroen, is innovative design, some quirky features, and a limousine like ride.

Inside the layout is different and some of the controls take a little getting used to. The central screen can be individualised, perhaps a little too much. But its spacious and extremely comfortable.

The C5-X is powered by a turbocharged 1.6L PureTech Petrol engine, producing 133kW of power, driving the front wheels through an 8-speed Efficient Automatic Transmission.

It performs well above what the raw figures would indicate. Around town its punchy, but on the freeway the long legs really take effect and it cruises effortlessly and economically. I got around 6.3l/100km on the freeway and that was with some enthusiastic driving.

The Citroen C5-X is an elegant presence in a segment that sometimes gets hung up on badges and loses its individuality. Its for buyers that want something just a little different. At a bit under $58,000 plus the usual costs its also an absolute bargain against other premium brands.
