Last week I drove the Ford Tourneo Active, a new people mover van based on the Ford Transit. There are two models in the range, and the Active is the entry model. Yet it still comes well equipped with little luxury and comfort features.
Ford Tourneo comes with eight seats. The rear six seats are perhaps the most flexible in their possible arrangements in the segment. There seems to be endless combinations available.
I’m not so sure about the rear facing set of seats that we picked the car up with. All rear seats can be removed if needed for a huge cargo capacity.
With ISOFIX and top tether points on all rear seats its practical for a large family. The amount of space inside is excellent.

The Ford Tourneo is easy to drive and simple to live with. It comes with a two litre turbo diesel engine and an eight speed automatic transmission. This provides reasonable performance and economy.
It does feel large in tight shopping centre carparks but will be awesome for the weekend kids sport runs.
There are a few similar styled people movers in the segment, almost all based on delivery vans, with the exception of the Kia Carnival.
Given the space, practicality and comfort of the Tourneo, it’s bound to become popular with larger families.
Priced from around $66,000 dollars plus the usual costs its good value.

Instead of the Ford Tourneo – buyers could look at:
Large van style people movers are more popular now especially as most are built on SUV platforms. However the segment is dominated by the Kia Carnival. Other options include: VW Multivan, Toyota Granvia, Hyundai Staria LDV Mifa.
