Genesis GV70 2.5T AWD SUV driven for 2026.

Genesis GV70 2.5T  – The luxury SUV I drove for a week without touching the screen. A luxury sedan from the front. An SUV from the back, and GENESIS spelled across the tail.    Inside is the standout.

  • Cream leather,
  • brushed aluminium,
  • and one 27-inch screen you run from a dial and thumbwheels.

A week without a fingerprint on the glass. In 2026 that counts as a luxury feature.

Now to the engine and performance

A 2.5-litre turbo four. 224 kilowatts, 422 newton-metres. Claimed, 10.3 litres per hundred k, a litre under the V6.

Smooth, quiet, and quite a sprightly car. The cabin calms the whole drive.

It’s quiet enough that the sprightly bit turns up before you’ve heard it coming.

Next to an EV you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference,

but it takes fuel, so long trips are never a hassle.

The only giveaway is that the trip ends at a servo instead of a queue.

Five years of free servicing, and they collect the car.

Five-year unlimited warranty.

From around $80,300 before on roads.

The Genesis GV70.

Not electric. Just incredibly quiet about it.

The Good

The Not-So-Good

Smooth, quiet, and sprightly, with a cabin that calms the drive. 10.3 L/100km claimed on 95 RON. The efficiency case is relative to the V6, not to a hybrid.
The interior is the standout, and the rotary controls let you work the screen without touching it. The 5-star ANCAP rating is a 2021 result and expires at the end of 2027.
Five years of free servicing, a real spare wheel, and a back seat that took a six-foot-three adult. The Advanced misses the Signature’s 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen, rear climate zone, heated wheel, and Nappa leather.
