Jaguar Type 01 – Jaguar is a brand name that evokes a long history of luxury saloons and drivers’ cars. They have just released details of the all-new Type 01.
This is a luxury four door GT that has exquisite design combined with state-of-the-art technology. I have to say when I first saw the concept design, I was non plussed, but as time goes by it is really starting to grow in appeal.
Jaguar state that it’s the most powerful road car they have built. With up to 7567kW of power and a stunning 1,365Nm of torque.
In line with its sports car history the Type 01 has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a 100-189km/h time of just 4.0 seconds. Unfortunately, that can only be assessed on a racetrack here in Australia.
Technology includes an 850-volt architecture and 118kWh usable battery capacity. This delivers an expected EPA range of up to 643 kilometres. Jaguar claim a sustained highway speed range of up to 515 kilometres.
It also has the capability of adding up to 321km of range in as little as 13 minutes using 350kW rapid DC charging.
As a kid growing up Jaguar was one of my favourite car brands. To this day of I ever see an E-Type I start to get excited
The question is can an all-electric super saloon save the Jaguar brand name.
