Mazda CX-80 P50E AZAMI AWD – revisited for 2025

Mazda CX-80 – Mazda is moving their models upmarket and last week I drove the new CX-80. This is a large seven seat family SUV. It comes with a choice of three model grades and three engine choices. I drove the P50E Azami. This comes with a 2.5 litre Plug in Hybrid petrol engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

This engine is quite powerful and provides plenty of zip around town and cruises beautifully on the motorway.

It also has about 60km of EV only range and that’s enough for most daily trips. Its also relatively economical as a hybrid.

The Azami comes well equipped with luxury and comfort features. I particularly like the Nappa leather seats that are ventilated for the front seats. You can personalise the driving position for different drivers. And the 360 degree see through camera system adds to the safety.

Mazda have done a great job with the CX-80. Its spacious, comfortable and smooth. It feels like it cocoons you as you are driving.

Pricing for the CX-80 range is from around $55,000 through to $87.200 dollars plus the usual costs. The SP option package is $5000.

There is a lot of competition for large seven seat SUVs but the new CX-80 is definitely worth a drive.
