Musso Adventure XLV – Over the Christmas break I had a SsangYong Musso XLV Adventure 4WD Dual Cab Ute for an extended period.
This is the mid-level model with the extended tub. So its right in the sweet spot for features and pricing.
The SsangYong Musso had a successful sales year in 2023, almost doubling the previous year with sales of around 3500 units.
The Musso XLV is spacious and comfortable inside with heated and ventilated front leather seats, 12.3 inch digital driver instrument display and another 12.3 inch central touch screen.
The XLV pack is a $1500 option and should be a given. With it the wheelbase is 110mm longer and the tub is 300mm longer as well.
It comes with a part time dual range 4WD system, a 2.2L turbo diesel engine with 133kW of power and with the 6 speed AT and the XLV option, some 420Nm of torque. It drives well above what those figures may suggest.
The SsangYong Musso XLV Adventure is priced from around $42,000 drive away and that listeners is absolutely stunning value. What you are getting is Korean build quality for Chinese prices.
Like all vehicles there are subtle differences and the Musso would not be my first pick for a harsh trip to Cape York. However, for towing, normal outback touring, a work Ute or even a practical family Ute it would be right up there as a choice alongside the Navara, D-Max or HiLux.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the Musso double sales again this year.
