Top ten Car Brands – The final results for new car sales have come in and they are a touch over last year.
The top selling brand for 2024, was Toyota. This was with a record 241,296 vehicles delivered for the year. This was just under 20% market share. Their top selling models are the HiLux, Rav 4 and the Corolla. All in the top ten models sold for the year
Second spot goes to Ford with a bit over 100,000 sales, mainly on the back of the Ranger and Everest models
Next up is Mazda with almost 96,000 sales, this is a touch down on last year results.
Number four and five are Kia and Mitsubishi. The next top five brands are Hyundai, MG, Isuzu Ute, Nissan and GWM.
GWM is a new entrant to the top ten brands and had a bumper year. They have a number of hybrids on sale and that has helped them. Mazda, MG and Hyundai have seen a decline on overall sales for the year.
Other brands that saw a decline in sales were Jeep, with almost half last year’s sales, LDV with a 25% decline, Mercedes Benz with about an 18% decline and VW with about a 16% decline.
The brands that have seen growth are some of the new entrants, such as BYD and Chery,
There are some 70 brands available now for a market of 27 million people and 1.2 million new car sales every year. This is the definition of a crowded market.
