This iconic sports coupe has been around since the mid 1960’s. There have been some beautiful designs and some truly bad ones. The current model is perhaps the most stylish yet.

Here is a two plus two sports coupe that will.

• allow my 190cm frame to sit in comfort,
• will take a reasonable amount of luggage and
• allow reasonable access to the rear seats for more luggage space if needed.

To be honest the rear seats are useless other than for that.

The interior has seem a number of upgrades to what is now a comfortable and luxurious space.

Lets talk about the heart of the Mustang. It’s a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine.

This provides some 345kW of power and 550Nm of torque driving the rear wheels through a 10 speed AT.

Old school, rear wheel drive muscle.

But the best part is the delicious V8 exhaust burble. It’s simply delightful to listen to. It permeates into the cabin and enhances the driving experience.

I never get tired of the sound and while driving it encourages you give it a little blast just for the fun of it.

Priced from $86,990 dollars it’s a performance car bargain and I love it.

The RS7 Sportback showcases just how beautiful a car can be. When it was parked in my yard out the front there were so many people walking past that stopped to admire it. When driving it people followed it as we drove past.

There are many words to describe it – stunning, stylish, beautiful, but my favourite is simply elegant.

Not only is it beautiful in design, but it is also a performance powerhouse.

With a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo TFSI engine under the bonnet it delivers some 463 kW of power and maximum torque of 850 Nm. This drives all four wheels through the brilliant quattro system and an eight speed tiptronic transmission.

Top speed is a claimed 280 km/h, and it will go from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. We didn’t try to replicate those as it was the long weekend and double demerits applied.

The true brilliance lies in the fact that performance lays hidden behind a car that is just as happy pottering around town at 60 km/h.

The Audi RS7 Sportback is a rare car indeed. There are few cars that you could compare it too. In a world that for some reason is forsaking the exhilaration of a V8 burble for EV silence, Ill take the RS7 every day of the week please.

With Jaguar announcing they won’t build the F Type anymore; the LC 500 Coupe is one of the last luxury coupes available along with the Corvette Stingray.

This is a car that simply attracts attention everywhere. From its deep V8 burble to its beautiful design.

Its surprisingly comfortable inside with everything you would expect. The Lexus LC 500 Enhancement Pack is a $15,000 option that adds another layer of comfort.

Visibility is a little restricted and I still don’t know why they bother with two rear seats.

But the beauty is in the driving. Its bigger than you expect but so easy to drive. The five litre V8 engine has more than enough performance to keep all drivers engaged. It will do a 0-100 kilometre per hour time of less than five seconds and top out at 270kilometres an hour.

But this is a car for enjoying, not necessarily racing.

Every once in a while, I get spoiled doing these reviews and the Lexus LC 500 Coupe was definitely a pleasure to drive

That is exactly what happened when I drove the Audi RS6 Performance last week.

Let me say up front I absolutely love this car. Its simply awesome.

It looks stunning and is packed with almost every luxury, comfort and safety feature Audi can throw in there.

Inside it fits me perfectly. Not something I can say about many cars.

It’s powered by the familiar 4.0L Bi-Turbo TFSI petrol engine with some 463kW of power and 850Nm of torque. This transfers to all four wheels through the brilliant Quattro drivetrain and an eight speed sports automatic transmission.

Start the engine, hear that V8 burble and away you go. Like all Audi performance models, it has twin personalities. It will happily potter around town without fuss. But ask more of it and its like superman, without finding a phone booth to change in. It simply explodes into action.

0-100kmh times of 3.4 seconds and a limited 280kmh top speed speak to its supercar performance.

Now to the disappointment. The last time I was lucky enough to drive it was at Philip Island racetrack. Blasting around that track at speeds up to 250kmh was exhilarating.

Unfortunately driving the RS6 around town and on the freeways is like having the best racehorse and confining it to a paddock to trot around.

Large Premium Saloons are few and far between these days. The Audi S8 comes with a 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine producing a power of 420kW and 800Nm of torque. Combine this with Quattro drive and an eight speed Tiptronic transmission. This will catapult the S8 from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, before reaching a limited top speed of 250 km/h.

But the sports Audi saloon is more than numbers alone. It’s absolutely packed with everything Audi can put in there for performance, luxury, comfort, and safety.

It’s also deceptively quick. It’s so quiet, so powerful, so fast and so stable, that on the freeway you find yourself looking down and it feels like it’s driving 30 or 40 kmh less than you actually are.

There is also a bit of a split personality. The big V8 will happily potter around town without fuss. However, select Dynamic drive mode, switch the transmission to sport and feel the beast being released.

When you consider what you need to spend to get anything even close to the big Audi , its surprisingly good value at around $273,000 plus options and the usual costs.

The Audi S8 definitely has an edge to it.

The A8 felt like you were floating on a cushion of air. The S8 feels slightly firmer and focused.

Its big yet subtle and stylish. I actually like the design, even though its a touch conservative.

Sumptuous interior cocoons the occupants.

The S8 personifies the sports saloon. Deceptively fast, quiet yet with a delicious exhaust note.

This is a cross country tourer with excellent driver engagement.

With a split personality, it will cruise effortlessly and comfortably around town. Yet select dynamic on the drive mode, place the transmission in sports and sit back and let rip.

It heralds a past era where the big sports saloon was the pinnacle of motoring. I sometimes miss those days.

I love it and its dam near perfect.
