My first impressions are that its impressive

I do like the sleek and modern Q8 styling. Especially the way the headlights integrate into the grill.

Inside. the seats are exceptionally comfortable. And the cabin is packed with all the modern features you’d want in a premium SUV.

It’s spacious, with ample room not just for the driver but also for passengers, including those in the middle seat.

With a powerful electric motor and QUATTRO drive, the Q8 is incredibly smooth.

There’s a calm, refined feel to the way it handles the road, yet it also has plenty of pace when you put your foot down.

One of the standout features for me has been the range. After some driving, it still displayed 610 km remaining with about 80–85% battery left. That’s seriously impressive and removes a lot of the typical range anxiety associated with EVs.

There is something distinct about the way an Audi drives. The Q8 e-tron has a solid, confident feel to it that’s hard to replicate.

Overall, it’s a fantastic vehicle—luxurious, refined, and exactly what you’d expect from a premium electric SUV.

Pricing for the Audi Q8 60 TFSI e-tron is from around $154,000 dollars plus the usual costs.

It’s called the NVES – New Vehicle Emissions Standards. Essentially the government is trying to force consumers to but electric cars. No matter what they say, that’s their plan and that’s daft. We want to choose the style of car that suits our needs.

An example of how a manufacturer can provide that choice is the Audi Q8. This is a large premium SUV that has embraced a wide spectrum of engine choices.

There is a choice of two body styles, the SUV and Stylish Sportback.

Depending on what model you choose there is either a 6-cylinder petrol or diesel engine. A V8 TFSI petrol engine in the SQ8 or RSQ8 with different tune specifications and mild hybrid technology. There is a Plug in Hybrid version and fully electric choices in both normal and sport tune.

Personally, the Audi Q8 is a favourite of mine, and I have driven all these choices.

Australian consumers want choice. The Government is trying to force us to buy a particular vehicle that doesn’t do what we need.

The Q8 is priced from around $154,000 plus the usual costs and options.

It comes with a 114-kilowatt hour battery that has a claimed range of 450km. A more realistic and safer daily figure would be around 400km.

This is a little bit less than I would expect with such a large battery, but it’s a heavy SUV and economy isn’t the greatest.

The Q8 e-tron can be charged at multiple outlets, fast chargers and at home if needed.

It also comes with a complimentary home charger in partnership with Jet Charge and a free six-year subscription to charge fox stations around Australia.

I really like the way the big Q8 drives, with recharge set to automatic, it will roll on like a normal car and yet kick off regenerative braking when needed. For a big SUV it is nimble and responsive.

Its smooth, quiet, and particularly comfortable inside. The layout is typically Audi with the central screens easy to use I love the haptic feedback to touch.

There is plenty of room in the back seats and the boot is spacious.

The Audi Q8 range now has something for everyone. Fully electric, Plug in Hybrid, Petrol, and diesel engines. There is also a choice of body styles, and you can opt for the sport’s ‘S’ or ‘RS’ versions.

That’s a lot of words for an electric Q8. However, being a launch edition, it comes with extras.

The vehicle we had comes in a bright Soneria Red metallic colour, which certainly created some interest.

Regular listeners will know I am a big fan of the Audi Q8. This is essentially that but with an electric motor.

It comes with a 114kWh Lithium-Ion battery that is good for a claimed range of about 450km and that’s about what we got.

The electric motor delivers some 300kW of power and a handy 664 Nm of torque driving through the clever Quattro system and a one speed transmission.

Its quick and responsive. Its also whisper quiet to drive.

Inside the Launch edition adds S Sport front seats with integrated headrests, ‘S’ logo trim, electronic steering wheel adjustment and other style features.

I do like the wireless connectivity and clever vertical charging slot for the phone.

Audi also provides 6 years free charging through Chargefox stations around the country which is handy.

If I had a choice, I would still opt for the 4.0L V8 SQ8 version.

This is essentially a Plug in Hybrid version of the big Q8 SUV.

This offers buyers a choice of localised EV only driving with zero range anxiety issues for longer trips. One clever feature is that drivers can choose to operate like a normal hybrid by turning off the EV drive.

The Q8 PHEV comes with a 17.9kWh battery that is good for a realistic EV range of around 50km. It also has a 3.0L TFSI V6 Petrol engine. This drives all four wheels through the Audi quattro system and a eight speed tiptronic transmission.

The combination is enough for a 0-100km/h time of 5.4 seconds.

Of course, being an Audi Q8 S-Line it comes with a load of premium comfort and luxury features. Heated seats and wireless smartphone connectivity and charging amongst the most practical.

The Q8 PHEV is priced from a bit over $148,000 plus the usual costs.

Plug in hybrid vehicles are good for buyers that are methodical and have a convenient place to charge. Otherwise its too easy to forget the daily charging and simply drive on petrol.
