SsangYong Torres – Late last year SsangYong released the Torres. This is a mid-sized SUV that is priced from $38,000 through to $47,000 driveaway.
There are three models the ELX and Adventure, which are both 2-wheel drive. And the model I’m driving this week, the Ultimate that is an all-wheel drive version.
Think of this all-wheel drive as more of a safety feature with better traction rather than having any adventurous aspirations. The Torres also has an extensive list of other safety features.
The ultimate is well equipped though with:
- 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels
- 360° camera
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Power sunroof
- Leather seats with 8-way power-adjustable front seats
- power adjustable driver’s lumbar support.
- Heated and ventilated front seats and heated outer rear seats
Power comes from a 1.5L turbo-charged petrol engine producing 120 kilowatts of power and 280 Newton metres of torque. It has a six speed Aisin automatic transmission.
The Torres is a little bit boxy in design but manages to look good. It’s definitely worth a look if you are looking to buy a mid-sized SUV that is well built, has a long warranty and is excellent value.
