This is week two in the KGM Rexton, in my search for the best new-mum car. I want to talk about safety — because I know that’s exactly what other new mums are thinking about too.

While the Rexton doesn’t have an ANCAP safety rating, it does offer an impressive range of safety features that give me real peace of mind. These include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning — all things that help take the pressure off during busy days on the road.

Around tight suburban car parks, the rear cross-traffic alert is especially helpful, along with the reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors.
The KGM Rexton is well set up to protect the whole family, with dual front airbags, front side airbags and full-length curtain airbags covering all three rows.

Comfort hasn’t been overlooked either. It comes with heated and cooled front leather seats, as well as heated outer rear seats.
The Rexton Ultimate includes a wireless charging tray for your phone, while lower-spec models use wired charging alongside smartphone connectivity. As with most things, it’s about balancing features with price.
One feature I really appreciate as a mum is the hands-free powered tailgate — a big help when you’re juggling bags, prams, and a baby. There are also pull-up sunshades in the rear side windows to keep little ones protected from the sun.
This is a Motoring Minute.
I’m Brianna Fraser.
