Audi S3 Sportback – Last week I had the pleasure of driving the latest Audi S3 Sportback. This came in a progressive red colour and looked stunning.
Given that the timing coincided with a trip we decided to take up the east coast, the S3 Sportback got to do what its designed for. Long distance cruising.
I have to say it excelled at that. It was so relaxing for long days behind the wheel. The front seats were both electronically adjustable so we could find the most comfortable positions.
Having a space for everything like a wireless charging tray, twin cup holders and reasonable sized central storage allows us to keep everything tucked away.
The rear seats are a bit tight, but the boot space swallowed our luggage with ease.
A 2.0 L turbo petrol engine provides plenty of performance and excellent economy.
We did test the sub 5.0 second 0-100 km/h claim, but not the top speed of 250 km/h obviously. I like to keep my license.
The combination of this engine, a 7 speed Tiptronic transmission and quattro drive provided the driver engagement. Its is a delight to drive.
Our vehicle also came with the optional sports exhaust system. This provided the exquisite exhaust note .
Overall, the Audi S3 Sportback gets a huge positive tick from me as a long distance cruiser. The price of $78,800 plus the usual costs for the standard model is also great value.
