It comes with a 74.7 kWh CATL battery, delivering a driving range of up to 533 kilometres. With 150 kW DC fast-charging, Trailseeker can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes^.

With 280 kW of power the Trailseeker will go from 0-100kmh in 4.4 seconds. That’s relatively quick and places it alongside EVs like the Kia EV6 GT, DEEPAL E07 AWD and Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. Anything sub five seconds for the sprint is enough.

Subaru’s famed AWD capability hasn’t been forgotten. Trailseeker comes with 211mm of ground clearance, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and low centre of gravity.

Trailseeker also comes with a 1500kg braked towing capacity for lifestyle and everyday practicality

With its commanding stance, high-riding confidence and intelligently managed electric performance.  Trailseeker will stand as Subaru’s flagship electric SUV for Australia. Blending genuine adventure-ready capability with an even more refined and exhilarating driving experience.

Subaru Solterra is one of my favourite electric vehicles. It is a lot to fun to drive and retains the Subaru DNA for adventurous drivers.

With 212 mm of ground clearance, Dual Mode X-Mode and Drive Mode Select, the vehicle maintains its capability, allowing drivers to explore far beyond the normal roads and highways.

The designers addressed one criticism of the outgoing model regarding range by incorporating a larger 74.7 Kw/h lithium ion battery, which now provides a WLTP range of up to 566 km.

Combined with that is a lift in power from the dual electric motors up to 262 kW.

Not only does it have more range and power, but it will charge faster with maximum charging increased to 22kW.

Inside the first thing you notice is the 14 inch central touch screen. This houses the infotainment and wireless smart phone connectivity. Complimenting that is wireless charging as well for compatible devices.

New LED ambient lighting offers 64 customisable colours, while acoustic glass and refined suspension tuning help ensure a quieter, more composed drive.

With some styling upgrades the Solterra also has a more athletic yet sleek exterior look.

Pricing for the 2026 Subaru Solterra starts from $63,990 plus the usual costs.

All, these changes are needed to keep the Solterra competitive with the ever growing list of EV models available.

This has been great for my daily drives and charging at home is a breeze with the 10-amp charger included.

Inside Its comfortable and feels spacious. I’m driving the top spec Touring model, so it also comes with a few extras as well.

With a Harmon Kardon audio system your favourite songs come to life while driving.

One thing that you notice is the flat top and bottom steering wheel. It actually feels different and practical. It also sits a little lower than a raised digital driver instrument screen.

The Solterra rides and handles exceptionally well. It is responsive in acceleration and steering and overall is quite fun to drive.

However like many EVs it’s a little pricey at around $77,000 plus the usual costs.

Solterra is a stylish SUV that comes well equipped with a 12.3-inch central touch screen, wireless smart phone connectivity, The touring model also comes with wireless charger.

Both models come with a  high voltage 71.4kW lithium-ion battery. This provides some 160kW of power and 337Nm of torque. While the NEDC range is measured at 485km, a more realistic range would be 450km.

Being a Subaru the ability to explore a variety of road surfaces is important and, on the launch, drive we did just that. We visited the Scenic Rim Adventure Park, a 680-acre property about one hour’s drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The Solterra comes with up to 212mm of ground clearance, Dual Mode X-Mode and Subarus famous Symmetrical AWD system.

This combination is ideal for slippery or icy conditions, steep hills, muddy terrain or just in the torrential downpours we sometimes get in the urban jungle.

The Solterra is whisper quiet to drive and so easy to buzz around in.

One thing that may surprise potential buyers is the price. We are used to EVs being so expensive, but the Solterra is exceptionally well priced from just under $70,000 plus the usual costs.
