I had this compact hybrid SUV over the Christmas break.

Not only does it have stylish design, but its elegant interior is class leading.

I particularly liked the configurable 3D I-cockpit design. This raised digital dash and unique steering wheel suits my driving position perfectly.

There is a panoramic opening glass roof, 360 degree camera and classy 18 inch black alloy wheels.

Both front seats are heated, and the driver’s seat has an electric lumbar support and relaxing massage function.

Powering the 2008 GT is a 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired with a 48V hybrid system. It’s zippy around town and engaging to drive. I didn’t take it on a longer drive this time. That’s because the Air Conditioning wasn’t working and driving longer distances on 40 plus degree days didn’t seem like fun.

It is however economical and we got around 5.0l/100k over the time we had it.

The Peugeot 2008 GT Hybrid has an almost perfect blend of size, performance, and economy. It also brings an element of style and sophistication and has a premium ambience. At around $49,500 plus the usual costs its great value compared to its European rivals.

The Peugeot 2008 GT Hybrid is ideal for buyers that want something just a little bit different.

The e-2008 GT is a beautifully designed SUV. Both inside and out it shows true French flair.

I di like the front Sabre Tooth tiger lighting design and the compact muscular profile.

Inside the seats are particularly comfortable. The small thick steering wheel that sits below the dash is different and once you get used to it, works extremely well.

Typically, the Peugeot is advanced with its 3D digital dash, and the central screen that can be adapted to individual drivers.

At the heart of the e-2008 GT is a 50 kilowatt hour lithium ion battery. This is good for a realistic range of about 300km. Its smooth, responsive and sporty to drive.

My daily drive is about 50km so that works out ok. However, the Peugeot doesn’t come with a type 2 charging cable so it’s off to the charging station when you need to and spend the time sitting there.

Buyers can opt for a 10-amp charger plug for an extra cost of that is how they want to charge. I prefer to charge overnight at home.

I can see this vehicle suiting someone that has low city kilometres to do daily and has access to convenient charging stations while at work.

The Peugeot e-2008GT is priced from  a bit under $60,000 plus the usual costs.

The first thing you notice is how stylish the 2008 is. From the distinctive grill and sleek lights through to the rounded SUV profile. Its stands out from the other small SUVs that can sometimes all look alike.

Inside its even more stylish. I love the 3-dimensional digital drivers instruments. Its completely unique. I also like the Peugeot i-cockpit dash style with the sports steering wheel sitting below it.

Its an unusual driving position, but it really works well.

The 2008 GT model comes with a lot of little luxuries and safety features as well as a bunch of drivers assist technologies.

The 2008 is powered by a 1.2Litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that gets the balance between zippy performance and economy exactly right.

Its fun to drive and extremely comfortable.

If you want something just a little bit different with French styling and flair, then the Peugeot 2008 is for you.

The Peugeot 2008 GT looks beautiful. It’s a beacon of style in a sometimes-bland segment.

I really like it. Its an ideal runabout for a couple that want a little bit of space.

The smaller 1.2L engine performs well above what you might expect and its zippy and economical.

When you consider what you pay for other premium European brands, the 2008 GT is excellent value.

The 2008 is a beautifully designed, smaller SUV with typical French flair both inside and out. Its packed with luxury, comfort and safety features.

At the heart of the e-2008 is a 50 kWh lithium ion battery pack. This provides power of 100kW and torque of 260Nm.

The e-2008 has a relatively small capacity and that reflects in a WLTP range of only 328km. Range is obviously a subjective thing. It differs with driving styles and road conditions.

It also depends on perspective. If you only drive 50km a day and charge the car every few days, then its sufficient. If you want to do a longer drive of 600 or 700km then its problematic.

One good thing about the e-2008 is that PEUGEOT states that you can fast charge the battery all the time with no degradation. Many other brands don’t recommend that.

Driving the e-2008 was pleasant and engaging, on a drive through city traffic to Akuna Bay the national park.

Its relatively light weight, and with the weight down low the ride and handling were crisp and responsive. Electric cars provide instant torque and that also makes for a sporty drive.

One thing I liked was that PEUGEOT are offering a five year discounted service plan of only $1000. That’s an awesome deal and a reminder that electric cars still need regular servicing.

The range may be an issue, but range is subjective. People will buy the Peugeot for its looks, style and quality and the range is accepted.

The fixed and pre paid service deal is also a bonus.

If you have to go EV this is a good way to go. Peugeot is for buyers that want something just a little different.
