A sophisticated AWD system automatically distributes the front-rear torque according to road conditions and grip, with the standard Torsen®¹ limited-slip differential on the rear axle adding to the dynamics.

An AWD Mode switch allows drivers to fix front-rear torque distribution 50:50 at the touch of a button, providing more predictable handling performance through different conditions and surfaces.

Both models come with the same hybrid-electric powertrain teaming a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor generator and nickel-metal hydride battery. This is matched to a CVT and either FWD or AWD.

The combination of the two provides peak power of 100kW and torque of 185Nm.

Being a Hybrid for the Toyota stable, the fuel economy is excellent at an ADR rate of 3.8L/100K.
