The original Vantage was first released in 1950 and its been an object of desire ever since.

Now Aston Martin have released their latest Vantage models. This keeps to the classic front engine rear wheel drive design along with smooth and sleek lines of what will become a modern design classic.

At the heart of the Vantage is a 4,0L Twin Turbo V8 engine that provides some 490kW of power and 800Nm of torque. This is matched to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The combination is good for a 0-100kmh time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 325km/h. Not that we will ever see that in Australia.

To show the commitment to the sports car ethos, the balance is a perfect 50/50 front and back.

The latest model is beautiful in design. Inside there is an all-new layout with bespoke state of the art infotainment system.

If the pure audio delight of the exhaust isn’t enough, audiophiles can opt for a Bowers & Wilkins system that is acoustically engineered to the Vantage’s interior volume and shape.

Sitting alongside the Vantage is a GT Racing version the Vantage GT3 which will see use in specialised racing around the world.

Thank you, Aston Martin for continuing the tradition of classic sports cars.

This is a Motoring Minute

I’m Rob Fraser
