Toyota call it V-Active Technology and will be optional on the SR 4X4 Double cable cab AT. And standard on the SR5 and Rogue double cab models. The benefit is smoother stop start transitions and better fuel economy.

In a HiLux-first, all models fitted with V-Active Technology also feature Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select off-road system (MTS). This offers six selectable modes to help improve traction in a range of conditions.

When in high range, MTS can be configured in Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow and Auto modes, while switching to low range offers Sand, Mud, Auto and Rock modes to provide the ideal mix of traction control in any situation.

Other improvements include some cosmetic refresh on some models and all pickup tubs now come with a soft opening assist feature.

The key details we have chatted about before. Highlights are that the Prado will come in five different model grades. GX, GXL, VX, Kakadu and for the more adventurous buyers an new model the Altitude.

Some models have 5 seats some seven.

All models will come with a large 12.3-inch central screen. This accommodates wireless smart phone connectivity, embedded navigation, and digital radio.

All models will feature the full suite of Toyota Safety Sense technology including.

• a panoramic view monitor,
• nine airbags,
• trailer sway control and a
• pre-wiring harness for the tow hitch.

All Prado variants are powered by the same 150kW, 500Nm 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder powertrain with 48-volt technology, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Every Prado offers full-time all-wheel drive with a lockable torque-sensing Torsen®⁹ centre differential and low-range gearing, with a strong 3,500kg braked towing capacity¹¹ across the range.
