Subaru Forester – This week in my ongoing quest to find the best new mum car we look at the recently updated Subaru Forester.
This five seat, medium sized SUV had a lot of improvements earlier this year and added a full hybrid motor to the line-up.
There are seven models for families to choose from. From the entry level AWD version through to the top spec Hybrid Touring.
All models continue with Subarus brilliant All Wheel System. There is a choice of petrol boxer and a petrol hybrid boxer engine. The transmission changes depending on what engine you choose.

The latest models come with the large vertical central screen that mirrors a smart phone screen. It has excellent clarity and touch sensitivity. To add to that all models come with wireless smart phone connectivity.
All models come with two isofix child restraint points and three top tether points.
The baby seats fits easily. And as always, we slide the front seat back until it touches the baby seat for some extra stability. This leaves enough room in the front seat for all but the tallest people.
I found the rear seat has enough room for me to sit comfortably next to bub if needed.
Boot space will accommodate the pram, bassinet and all the gear needed. But that almost fills it.
Pricing is from $43,490 through to $55,990 plus the usual added costs.
