Kia Sorento GT-Line PHEV driven for 2025

Sorento GT-LINE PHEV  – As far as large family SUVs go there aren’t many vehicles more popular than the Kia Sorento. I recently drove the Sorento GT-Line plug in hybrid model. This is the most luxurious model they have.

2025 Kia-Sorento-PHEV_205The Sorento has long been a favourite SUV of mine. In fact, not so long ago I drove the normal hybrid version.

Being the GT- Line means that it is absolutely packed with luxury, comfort and safety features. Kia does a great job with those.

The Plug in hybrid model has a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a small electric motor and battery. This combination allows for enough performance to keep the Sorento moving easily.

However, the small EV Only range of around 50km is a bit short for daily driving. It means that you most likely will need to charge every night for it to be useful.

For new families there are isofix and top tether points for baby seats and the boot is large enough with the rear seats folded, for all the gear you need. Rear seats have plenty of leg and knee room for adults and baby seats. The rear seats are best left for shorter occupants.

The main issue I have with the Plug in Hybrid model is that it costs from $84,660 dollars plus the usual costs. That is some $11,500 dollars more expensive than the normal hybrid model, which is really good, and I just can’t see the value.
