Subaru Forester Hybrid – first drive at launch

Forester Hybrid  – I’ve just returned from the launch of the new Subaru Forester. This is the sixth generation of the popular SUV and it’s the best by far.

2025 Subaru Forester Launch 4 It retains a sleek, yet practical design. Inside the first thing you notice is the all new central screen. This is similar to the Crosstrek and Outback. It’s a functional design with excellent clarity. ‘Otherwise, the premium interior is spacious and well laid out. Seats are especially comfortable.

The big news is the introduction of a full petrol  Hybrid e-Boxer engine. This combines a 2.5-litre Boxer engine with a 90kW electric motor and 1.1kWh battery. Claimed range is 1,000km under ideal conditions.

It’s smooth to drive and I can see it becoming the best selling choice.

Of course, the Forester comes with Subarus brilliant  Symmetrical All Wheel Drive, X-Mode functionality and 220mm of ground clearance. Lets put that into perspective, the Toyota HiLux SR5 has 216mm of ground clearance.

Standard across the range, X-Mode is activated via the infotainment screen and offers either one or two selectable modes – Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud – depending on the variant.

There aren’t many cars that will match the safety and stability of a Subaru in snowy or icy road conditions.

Pricing for the sixth generation Forester is from $43,490 through to $55,990 plus the usual costs.
